Virginia Tech's Advanced Research Institute, VT-ARI, (formerly the Alexandria Research Institute), is located at Ballston in Arlington, VA. It provides a platform for Virginia Tech's engineering and computer science researchers to interact with counterparts in academia, government and industry around the National Capital region and also serves as a gateway to the R&D base at the main campus in Blacksburg. Currently, VT-ARI is involved with research in the fields of computer networking, data visualization, fiber-optics, wireless & telecommunications, satellite systems, medical informatics, energy and the environment, and more.
VT-ARI complements its research activities with teaching by providing a base for graduate students (both MS and PhD) in engineering and computer science. ARI also hosts seminars, workshops and lectures by its faculty as well as government program managers, industry researchers and overseas visitors. |
